A Message from the Child Mind Institute
Children are at the heart of everything we do at the Child Mind Institute. In the mind of a child is a universe of possibilities for joy, hope, creativity, curiosity, and the power to love and be loved. Too often we see these possibilities curtailed by mental illness, learning disorders, and inadequate systems of support.
We know that 75% of all mental illness manifests before the age of 24, and 50% before the age of 14. We also know that the brain is more malleable during childhood and adolescence. This is why we focus our clinical care, research, and public education on child and adolescent mental health. By intervening early, when treatments are proven most effective, it's possible to dramatically impact the trajectory of children’s lives.
We are excited to present our 2014 Annual Report, which acknowledges the great generosity of our donors and the courage of children and young adults who inspire us every day with their energy and determination.
